Have you noticed it too? Whimsy is suddenly everywhere.
Bold prints, colorful rooms, playful fashion, funky little details—people seem less interested in everything looking perfect and more interested in things having personality again. It feels like we’re finally coming out of a long beige era.
And honestly, I love to see it.
Trends are funny because they always come and go. Something becomes the thing for a while, everyone leans into it, and then eventually people start craving the complete opposite. For years, everything felt centered around neutrals, minimalism, and muted color palettes. Homes were beige, outfits were beige, stores were beige. Everything was clean, simple, and curated—but after a while, it also started to feel a little lifeless.
Somewhere along the way, character got lost.
There was a time when things felt bolder. Spaces had charm. Homes were full of color, patterns, unique furniture, and pieces that told a story. Fashion felt expressive and fun. People weren’t afraid to mix prints, wear bright colors, or decorate in ways that felt personal.
Then over the years, it seemed like everything got toned down. Safe color schemes took over. Minimalism became the standard. Personality was replaced with matching sets and neutral palettes.
But now? The pendulum is swinging back.
People want color again. They want fun again. They want homes and wardrobes that actually reflect who they are. They want the unexpected, the playful, the collected, the bold.
As someone who has always dressed whimsical, colorful, and a little bold, this feels like such an exciting era. While everyone else was embracing neutrals, I was still reaching for bright colors, statement pieces, and things that made me happy. I’ve always believed style should feel joyful.
So to see people letting go of the beige, no-character phase is refreshing.
Whimsy feels like a reminder that life doesn’t always need to be so serious or perfectly curated. Things can be colorful, interesting, imperfect, and full of personality. That’s what makes them memorable.
Color is back. Character is back. Whimsy is back.
And for some of us, it never left.
Xoxo, Roxie
