This past Sunday, October 19th, Andrew and I celebrated six years of marriage — and honestly, it feels like such a fun milestone! Ever since we met on the missions field in China, life together has been one big adventure. From exploring new cities to meeting people from all walks of life, we’ve pretty much been on the go ever since God crossed our paths.
To celebrate, we decided to spend the day in New York City (which is only about an hour and a half from us!). Lately, we’ve been taking more trips into the city, and every time we go, it feels like we’re discovering something new. There’s just something so special about NYC — the mix of cultures, voices, and nations all in one place. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how diverse and creative God’s world really is.
We had lunch at The Queen’s Yard, and let me tell you… there wasn’t a single thing on that menu we didn’t love. Everything was delicious — 10/10 would recommend! Afterward, we wandered around the mall a bit and then went up to Edge, which is this incredible observation deck where you can overlook the entire city. The view was breathtaking. Andrew said it was 100 times better than the Empire State Building — though, being the rom-com fan I am, I still want to go up there one day because it reminds me of Sleepless in Seattle (I’m a huge Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks girl ).
After soaking in the view, we headed down to the yard area outside the mall where they had a giant screen showing a football game. We ended up sitting with a bunch of strangers, watching for about twenty minutes, just taking in the whole atmosphere — the lights, the laughter, the cool city air. Eventually, we packed up and made our way home (through the classic NYC traffic, of course ).
It was such a sweet day — simple, fun, and full of life. Now that I have weekends off with my new job, we’re so excited to plan more little adventures like this. Whether it’s another trip to the city or somewhere totally new, we just love exploring together.
If you haven’t been to Edge yet, I highly recommend it — the view is absolutely unreal. And definitely grab a bite at The Queen’s Yard while you’re there! You’ll love it.
Here’s to six years of love, laughter, and exploring the world together.
