Summer is slowly coming to an end, and fall is quickly approaching—my favorite season of all. 🍂 On Saturday, August 16th, my husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday a little early and took our nephew Bane to the Bronx. We spent the morning wandering through the Botanical Garden so I could see the special Van Gogh flower displays, which was such a treat since he’s one of my favorite artists. It was beautiful, and even on the drive there we noticed leaves already starting to change. My heart just about burst with excitement!
Afterward, we headed into the city so Bane could finally get the full NYC experience. We walked through Times Square, stopped by Rockefeller Center, and grabbed lunch at the Hard Rock Café. It was such a fun day, and I loved sharing that experience with him. Being in the city made me think of one of my favorite fall movies, You’ve Got Mail with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. I was just telling a friend at church about it recently, and now I definitely feel like watching it again.
The Hudson Valley is magical this time of year, and I’ve already been looking up spots to visit for peak foliage season. It’s one of the most beautiful places to soak in autumn, and I can’t wait to go exploring. I’ve even found myself getting inspired for new illustrations and artwork—something about the colors, the light, and the shift of the season just stirs creativity in me.
I’m reminded how good God is in the way He created the seasons. Each one has its purpose and beauty, but fall always feels like a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and notice the small, beautiful details of life. I’m so ready to step into this new season with a thankful heart. 🍁
