Happy 4th of July + A Little Life Update

Happy 4th of July, friends! I hope today is filled with good food, time with loved ones, and lots of relaxing. That was my exact plan today—just soaking in a slow, sunny morning while I wait for my husband to get home from his half-day at work.

Funny enough, I had every intention of sleeping in this morning… but my body had other plans. I was up at 5:16 AM (yep, I checked the clock). By 9:30, I had already showered, journaled, spent time with Jesus, had my coffee and breakfast, knocked out a few ministry tasks for this coming Sunday, went grocery shopping with my mother-in-law, and prepped dinner for the week. Now I’m sipping a second cup of coffee, sitting down to write this little post.

It’s honestly been a while since I’ve updated the blog. Life’s been busy—full in a good way—but I’m really trying to stay consistent and share more often.

So here’s a little update:

Almost two years ago, Andrew and I were living in Lakeland, Florida, and we started talking about moving back north to be closer to family and get things in order. Our time in Florida was beautiful, but it came with its fair share of challenges too. We ended up moving to Doylestown, PA for a bit, but when Andrew lost his job and couldn’t find another one right away, God opened a different door.

By November 2023, we packed up our little apartment in Bucks County and moved to Carmel, NY to help serve at Mount Carmel Bible Church (formerly Mount Carmel Baptist Church), where my father-in-law pastors. Since then, we’ve been jumping into ministry headfirst—helping with children’s ministry, admin, graphics, the website, and now worship. Andrew is finally using his gifts to lead, and I get to use mine to support him and the church—and be creative in the process, which I love.

It hasn’t always been easy. If you’ve ever served in ministry, you know it can stretch you in ways you didn’t expect. You’re juggling responsibilities, navigating personalities, and giving your all—even on the days you feel poured out. But I told my mother-in-law this morning, “Yes, it’s a lot… but I wouldn’t trade it. I’d rather be busy serving the Lord than not serving Him at all.”

That’s what’s been sitting on my heart today. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle or feel like we’re just checking boxes—but the truth is, following Jesus and serving Him should come from a place of love, not performance. Even when it’s tiring or messy, it’s worth it. You never know what God is doing behind the scenes.

I feel so grateful to walk this season alongside my sweet husband, and I’m expectant for what God has in store the rest of this year. He’s been faithful, and I know His plans are good.

Here’s to a restful Fourth, and to serving Him with our whole hearts—even when it’s hard.

Love,
Roxanne 🤍
