Embracing Freedom in Christ: Galatians 5 and the Joy of Creativity

This past Sunday, the message at MCB Church really hit home for me. My father-in-law, who’s the Pastor, spoke on Galatians 5 and the freedom we have in Christ. He shared a simple yet powerful example about how he sometimes likes to wear funky shirts—just because he enjoys the color. “You’re free to wear whatever you want,” he said, emphasizing that Christ’s freedom extends to how we express ourselves, even down to the clothes we wear.

It was such a refreshing reminder, and it really spoke to me. I’ve always loved color, creativity, and wearing fun, bold things—it’s part of my personality. As I wrote down in my notes that day, “I’m free to be creative.” Whether it’s in the way I dress or in my artwork, I’m free to be who God made me to be.

This message encouraged me to embrace that individuality even more. Creativity is a gift from God, and I believe He delights in seeing us use it freely. I pray others will feel the same freedom in Christ—to be who they are, without feeling the need to conform to anyone’s expectations.

Galatians 5 reminds us that Christ set us free so we can live out our lives fully, not in bondage to legalism or fear, but with the joy that comes from knowing we’re loved and accepted just as we are. For me, that means embracing my love for color, design, and creativity—and I hope others will find the courage to embrace their God-given uniqueness too.
